FAQs
Straight answers.
The Psychological Effects of Music Professional Development Books, and only that. The research foundation — what happens cognitively and emotionally when music is the vehicle for learning — and then the practical work of leading the books with a group. Participants leave able to run a session from the book, not just aware that it exists. That is the full scope of what we train. It does not cover the recording and production programming, which our own staff deliver.
Yes. Pep rally ideas for work generally come down to wanting energy in the room without it feeling forced, and live music does that more reliably than a slideshow.
Tell us the occasion — a kickoff, a milestone, a hard quarter — and the group size, and we will scope it.
Organizations use it that way. Teams building employee retention projects, a recruitment and retention plan, or looking for innovative employee retention strategies generally have compensation and benefits covered and connection uncovered — and connection is what people cite when they stay.
For unique wellness programs, a music session is different enough from the standard offering that participation tends to be higher. Whether it moves your retention numbers depends on far more than programming, and we would rather say so.
Music requires the same capacities organizations spend money trying to build: listening under pressure, adjusting in real time to others, and tolerating repeated critique. Learning with music makes those capacities practicable rather than theoretical.
Yes, drawn from the literature on music and learning research — attention, memory, and group synchrony. We provide the reference list on request rather than asking you to take the claim on faith.
We offer our Music Tools for Stress and Behavior Management as well as the Music Recording Program as a team building experience. Wellness activities for staff meetings need to run in 90 minutes A short music or rhythm session works in that window and does not require anyone to be musical and is great for bonding.
Longer formats run 90 minutes to a full day.
That is most of the audience. Nothing in the Psychological Effects of Music Professional Development Books requires the facilitator to read music or play an instrument — that is a design choice, and it is why staff can run it after training.

Yes. On-site and virtual formats are both available. Virtual works well for multi-site organizations training staff across locations.
The body of work on music and learning research and the social benefits of music education — attention, memory, emotional regulation, and group synchrony. We provide the reference list on request. Ask for it if you are evaluating the training for a PD catalog.
Title II-A, Prop 28 training funds within the 19% allocation, 21st CCLC professional development, and organizational training budgets, depending on the setting.
Yes, and it is the format most training days are missing. A team has to produce a finished recording together inside a set time, which surfaces how the group actually operates: who listens, who takes over, how disagreement about the work gets handled, and whether anyone can accept a note. Those are the behaviors a team building session is supposed to reveal, and a recording session reveals them in an hour rather than through a self-report exercise.
No. We send our own staff to run the programming. We do not train your staff to run it. Recording and production is a skill set, not a procedure. Trying to hand it off in a few hours would be like teaching a doctor to perform surgery in an afternoon — you would get a session that technically happened and a result nobody wants to hear. The professional development we do offer is on using the books — leading the material, the research behind it, and running a session with a group. That is a real service and staff run it themselves afterward. The recording and production programming is different, and we deliver it.
No. We are supplemental. We do not replace your SEL curriculum, your trauma-informed practice, or any program you already have in place. If you run a core SEL program, keep it — ours adds a music-based component alongside it. If you have trauma-informed protocols, training, and referral pathways, those stay in force exactly as they are. Nothing in our material substitutes for them, and our facilitators are not a substitute for your clinical, counseling, or behavioral staff. The training is on running the book alongside what you already do. It is not a conversion or a replacement of your existing approach.
Yes. The Psychological Effects of Music interactive Training works as a conference keynote, a staff development opener, or an all-staff session. For an educator audience it does double duty — it demonstrates the method while delivering content, so staff leave having experienced what the book asks them to lead.
